Metrolink Launches GPS Tracking Tool for Passengers

The site will be fully operational by the end of the year.

Metrolink launched a new website on Friday that features a GPS tracking tool to help passengers locate trains in real time and pinpoint their estimated arrival times.

The site is currently in beta mode as developers are implementing changes with user feedback. The site will be fully operational by the end of the year.

Metrolink hopes the new additions will make it easier for riders to plan their trip, receive promotions and service advisories and even participate in special events.

App users who purchase tickets online can transfer to the Metro Rail system by scanning their phone on a optic reader that will be available later this year. For the folks who aren’t so digitally inclined, traditional paper tickets can still be purchased from any location.

The tracking system is only available on the website at this time, but is expected to be added to the app in the future.

Riders who are interested in testing out the new updates can visit www.metrolinktrains.com or download the app online.
