Metrolink Train Strikes, Kills Man in Baldwin Park

A man was killed Saturday when he was struck by a Metrolink train in Baldwin Park, authorities said.

The incident was reported at 7:34 p.m. on the San Bernardino line west of Merced Avenue and about 1 1/2 miles from the Baldwin Park train station, Metrolink spokesman Paul Gonzales said.

Whether the death was an accident or suicide will be determined by investigators, he said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released pending notification of relatives.

There were 80 people on board the train, due in San Bernardino about 9 p.m.. Gonzales said. Arrangements were being made to get them to their destination.
