Metrolink Train Strikes Truck Trailer in Corona

A Metrolink commuter train struck a truck trailer in Corona Wednesday morning, but no one was injured, authorities said.

Metrolink's website says the Line 805 train has stopped in Corona after the they collided around 6:04 a.m. near the intersection of Maple Street and Smith Avenue.

"A big rig truck hauling a trailer was crossing the railroad tracks near that intersection when it experienced mechanical problems and became stuck on the tracks," said Corona police Lt. Neil Reynolds. "The Metrolink train then hit the truck, tipping over the dump truck trailer."

The accident left the trailer on its side at an intersection, but the truck remained upright.

"Metrolink is sending out a crew to look over the train before they let it go on," Reynolds added.

The train was headed to Irvine when the incident occurred.
