The missing woman requires medication and is considered at-risk

Authorities on Thursday asked for the public's help in finding a 23-year-old woman who suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disease and went missing in Lancaster.

Monica Rose Nielsen was last seen leaving her Lancaster home around 8 p.m. on Sunday. Nielsen requires medication and has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Nielsen is white, 5 feet 10, 200 pounds, with dark red hair shaved on the left side of her head and mid-length on the right side, and blue eyes, authorities said. She has a rose tattoo on her left shoulder and a marijuana leaf tattoo on her lower back.

Anyone with information about Nielsen's whereabouts was urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Missing Persons Unit at  323-890-5500.
