Off-Duty Monterey Park Officer ID'd as Driver Killed in 605 Freeway Crash

A motorist who was killed in a rollover crash on the 605 Freeway in Norwalk was an off-duty Monterey Park police officer, authorities said Tuesday.

The single-vehicle crash was reported at 5:28 a.m. Monday and the motorist died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Monterey Park Police Department identified the man as 36-year-old Officer Adrian Carrillo.

"Officer Carrillo had been with the Department since December of 2015 and was well-liked by both his colleagues and the community,'' a city statement said. "We grieve alongside his family and friends."

The investigation into the crash was being conducted by the CHP.
