Mother Arrested After 8-Year-Old Twins Suspected to Be Kidnapped

The twins were found safe.

A woman has been arrested after she was suspected of abducting her 8-year-old twins from her estranged husband for days, Irvine police said Saturday.

Shahrzad Talieh, 45, was expected to be booked on charges of deprivation of custody of child after detectives said she unsuccessfully tried to purchase airline tickets to Copenhagen.

The children were found safe and unharmed.

The woman and her husband are in the process of divorce, and share custody.

Talieh was believed to have gotten the twins' passports from their father's house prior to picking the children up from school on Thursday - a day when she did not have custody, according to police.

The twins' father reported them missing.

Friends and family told police they were worried because of the woman's "deteriorating mental health and possible substance abuse."

Talieh's parked car was found at LAX Friday, but police discovered she had not boarded any flights.

Talieh and the children were found in Canoga Park on Saturday at a friend's home.

The twins were released back to their father, and Talieh was arrested.
