Mother Killed, Children Hospitalized After Car Crash Into Hesperia Aqueduct

Dive teams will continue to scour an aqueduct in Hesperia for a possible fourth victim after a horrific car crash into the waterway left a mother dead and her two children hospitalized.

The car crashed into the water just before 7 p.m. into the aqueduct near Main Street. Details about what led up to the crash were not immediately available.

A 10-year-old child was ejected from the car and taken to the hospital. A 2-year-old was pulled from the water and also rushed to the hospital as first responders administered CPR, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman Jeremy Kern.

The mother was found dead in the submerged car, Kern said.

Authorities were still trying to confirm the exact number of people who were in the vehicles as of Thursday night and will continue to search the area in the morning.

They suspended the search late Thursday night after clearing the most probable areas of the aqueduct.

The identities of the woman and the children were not immediately released.
