Mother Lowers Twins Through Window to Safety as Fire Rages

As a fire ripped through her two-bedroom apartment in Ladera Heights on Tuesday morning, Carla Langley punched out a window and screamed for help.

When nobody came, she lowered her twin 8-year-olds out  -- Alexandria first, then Hunter, before she jumped out to safety.

"I was like, 'My babies, my babies, help me, please help me, please,' she said.

The kids were not hurt. Langley suffered cuts and bruises. They're raising money for recovery on gofundme. Two adults and four children were displaced by the fire.

The fire which started at 12:55 a.m. in the 5300 block of West Slauson Avenue, began in the lower unit.

No one in that unit was home when the fire started, officials said. The cause was not known.
