Multiagency Gang Raid Sweeps Up 10 Suspects in Riverside County

Ten suspected gang members were arrested Thursday during a series of law enforcement raids throughout Riverside County for a variety of offenses stemming from shootings and other incidents of gang violence in Desert Hot Springs.

The operation began about 6 a.m., with members of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force serving warrants at homes and other locations in Desert Hot Springs, as well as Palm Springs, Indio Hills, Rancho Mirage, Beaumont and Moreno Valley, said sheriff's Sgt. Michael Tapp.

The sweep also included the service of a gang injunction on documented gang members and associates in the area, Tapp said.

Those arrested Thursday morning include:

 Daniel Villa, 22, of Banning, on suspicion of a parole violation

 Rosalinda Guzman, 36, of Desert Hot Springs, on suspicion of possession of an assault rifle

 Raul Guzman, 37, of Desert Hot Springs, on suspicion of possession of an assault rifle

 Julio Arrez, 34, of Desert Hot Springs, on suspicion of possession of ammunition and a parole violation

 Steven Zarate, 26, of Desert Hot Springs, on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm

 Missael Garcia, 20, of Desert Hot Springs, on suspicion of possession of a high-capacity magazine

 Anthony Fuentes, 26, of Desert Hot Springs, on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm

 Joshua Felix, 19, of Desert Hot Springs, on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm and a felony warrant

 Anthony Michado, 24, of Desert Hot Springs, on suspicion of a parole violation

 An unidentified male juvenile, who was taken to Juvenile Hall for a firearm possession warrant

In addition to the arrests, authorities seized seven firearms, around 500 rounds of ammunition and high capacity magazines, according to the sergeant.

Almost 20 separate law enforcement agencies participated in the operation.
