A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed while she was walking a dog with a friend in the Frankford section of Northeast Philadelphia Sunday night, police said.
Teryn Johnson was shot in the chest along the 5300 block of Horrocks Street, police said.
According to investigators, she and another girl were walking a small dog shortly before 9 p.m. and stopped in a convenience store.

Afterward, the girls noticed a gray Dodge Challenger following them – first on Bridge Street, then onto Horrocks Street, a more residential area, police said.
Investigators said they made eye contact with someone in a car and then someone inside fired six shots at them. No words were exchanged, police said.
Teryn -- who lived in the neighboring Oxford Circle neighborhood -- was struck two times, police said. She attempted to run away but collapsed. Officers rushed Teryn to the hospital where died a short time later.

The other girl was uninjured, police said. The dog got away and hasn't been found.
"It does not appear that they knew each other, it's unclear what the motive was of the shooter," Police Inspector D F Pace said. "We don't know if either one of those two females was being targeted."
No arrests have been made in the case. Police say they hope surveillance cameras from the area of the convenience store can help the investigation.
At least 158 children have been shot, as of Friday, in Philadelphia so far this year, making up about 9 % of all shooting victims to date in 2022, according to data from the city controller's office.
Earlier Sunday, a 24-year-old man was killed when he was shot in the head on the 2100 block of Cemetery Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.
Entering Monday, there were at least 384 homicides in Philadelphia this year, up 4% from the same time last year, which ended as the year with the most killings in Philadelphia’s recorded history.
