No Bond for Dad Charged With Murder in Hot Car Death

The suburban Atlanta father accused of murdering his toddler by leaving him in a hot SUV for several hours was in an unhappy marriage and wanted a "child-free life," a detective testified Thursday before a judge denied the father a $50,000 bond and ruled that there was probable cause to move forward with the case against him. Justin Ross Harris, 33, of Marietta, had been sexting with other women in the two weeks before his son Cooper was found dead in the back seat of the family SUV on June 18, said Cobb County Det. Phil Stoddard. "Evidence shows he has this whole second life ... with alternate personas," Stoddard said. According to warrants, Harris had done research online about child deaths in vehicles and "what temperature it needs to be" prior to his son's death.
