Enrique Cruz has learned that picking up prescriptions on time can be more than just a good habit.

While picking up his medical prescription at Meijer in November, the 32-year Glendale Heights resident bought five lottery tickets, according to a release from the Illinois Lottery.

“I just happened to think of it and I bought five Quick Picks,” Cruz said in the release. “I never expected to win a million dollars!”

On Nov. 26, he checked the tickets at a gas station and realized he had won.

Cruz plans to use the money to invest and take his family to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, according to the release.

Cruz bought the winning ticket at Meijer, 130 S. Gary Ave. in Bloomingdale.
