Rio Olympics by the Numbers Day 15: 1st US Triathlon Gold, Diving Upset and More

Take a look at some notable statistics from Day 15 of the 2016 Rio Olympics

The first ever triathlon gold for the U.S., a stunning elimination for a British diver, and an Olympic modern pentathlon record in swimming.

Take a look at some notable statistics from Day 15 of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

1st: Gwen Jorgensen gave the U.S. its first Olympic triathlon gold medal Saturday, crushing the field at breezy Copacabana Beach in 1 hour, 56 minutes and 16 seconds. The only other American to win an Olympic triathlon medal was Susan Williams, the silver medalist at the 2004 Athens Games.

1 minute, 55.60 seconds: The time it took Great Britain's James Cooke to set an Olympic modern pentathlon record in swimming. He broke the previous record of 1:55.70 set by Egypt's Amro El Geziry at the 2012 London Games.

7: The number of track and field golds up for grabs on Saturday evening. Britain's Mo Farah is looking to produce a rare double-double — his fourth career gold — when the men's 5,000 meters kicks off Saturday. South Africa's Caster Semenya is the favorite in the women's 800 meters. Both sexes battle for gold in the 4x400 relays. Other medals are being awarded in the men's javelin and the 1,500 meters and the women's high jump.

9: The number of Australian athletes fined after being detained for falsifying games accreditations, according to the Australian Olympic team. They were taken into custody after Olympic Park games officials suspected their accreditations had been tampered with to gain access to Australia's basketball semifinal against Serbia. An expedited hearing resulted in them being fined 10,000 reals ($3,100) each. On Sunday, the head of the Australian Olympic mission, Kitty Chiller, said the athletes were not responsble for the tampering. The AOC is looking into the matter.

18th: Tom Daley of Britain stunningly failed to qualify for the men's 10-meter platform diving final. He finished 18th — last in the semifinals. Daley earned bronze in 2012 and was well positioned to upset the Chinese in Rio. But he botched his second and third dives before rallying in the fourth and fifth rounds. He needed high scores on his sixth and last dive to grab a spot in the semis, but his score of 50.40 was the lowest of anyone in the round.

22: The age of the youngest rider in women's mountain biking in Rio. Sweden's Jenny Rissveds won gold, beating out a field that included seven world champions. Competitors ranged in ages, up to 44 years old.
