A roller coaster got stuck at a Six Flags America in Maryland Thursday night, officials said.

All guests were safely escorted from the Firebird roller coaster in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Six Flags America Communications Manager Denise Stokes said in a statement.

The ride came to a stop at the top of the lift hill at about 6:15 p.m., she said. Passengers were stuck on the floorless roller coaster ride for nearly two hours as Six Flag America employees followed appropriate safety procedures.

"The safety of our guests is our highest priority," Stokes said in the statement.

The roller coaster will remain closed while it's inspected by the company's certified ride technicians, she said.

This wasn't the first time passengers were stuck on a ride at the Six Flags America. The park has had problems with rides that have gotten stuck several times in the past few years
