Jurors Hear Closing Arguments In Manafort Trial

The case against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort is in the hands of a jury. Lawyers for both sides made their closing arguments Wednesday after the defense rested without calling a single witness. NBC's Nikki Carvajal reports. (Published Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018)

The jury in the financial fraud trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort did not reach a verdict Monday, which was the third day of deliberations.

Jurors will reconvene at 9:30 a.m. ET Tuesday.

Federal prosecutors allege Manafort hid tens of millions of dollars in foreign income. They also say he lied on loan applications to obtain millions more to maintain a lavish lifestyle.

Manafort's attorneys didn't call witnesses in his defense, claiming the prosecution failed to meet its burden of proof. His attorneys attacked the credibility of a key witness, one-time Manafort protege Rick Gates.
