Catherine Hardwicke says it "took a long time" for Kristen Stewart to warm to change in relationship

Has the long-rumored Robert Pattinson-Kristen Stewart romance been outed by their former director?

Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the young stars in "Twilight," didn't quite say the two were together, but hinted strongly that she'd seen the beginnings of a blooming relationship.

"After I cast him, I told Rob, Don't even think about having a romance with her," Catherine told TIME magazine. "She's under 18. You will be arrested."

However, she said she wasn't privy to the stars' private moments.

"I didn't have a camera in the hotel room. I cannot say," the director said before all but admitting the two are now together.

"In terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn't happen on the first movie," she said. "Nothing crossed the line while on the first film. I think it took a long time for Kristen to realize, 'O.K., I've got to give this a go and really try to be with this person.'"

Adding fuel to the fire, Kristen and Rob were spotted holding hands in Paris on Wednesday as they headed for their flight to London on the "New Moon" press tour.
