And the Next Voted Off “DWTS” is…

Kristin Cavallari "surprised" she's axed; Chaz Bono advances

Chaz Bono has won another “Dancing” reprieve.

The transgender activist escaped elimination on “Dancing with the Stars” Tuesday despite having landed at the bottom of the leaderboard for the second week in a row.

Former “Hills” starlet Kristin Cavallari and pro partner Mark Ballas were sent packing instead, one night after having earned their highest scores of the season.

“I’m a little surprised to be honest,” Cavallari said after learning her fate. “It is what it is.”

Judge Len Goodman said moments earlier that it was “truly crazy” Cavallari or U.S. soccer star Hope Solo were singled out for possible elimination. He said he considered both to be contenders for the finals.

Others returning to ABC’s dancing competition next week are: leaderboard leader Ricki Lake, veteran turned soap star J.R. Martinez, Rob Kardashian, HLN host Nancy Grace, singer Chynna Phillips, “Queer Eye’s” Carson Kressley and David Arquette.

Cher is also likely to make a special appearance to the ballroom. The pop star tweeted Monday that should her son Chaz make it though to the next round she’d cheer him on while seated in the “Dancing” audience.
