Apple has to compete with new smartphones and tablets, so it has to evolve. Part of that means that Apple is releasing a larger, sharper iPhone screen, now reportedly 1704 by 960 pixels.
While it's not clear if the new screen will be 4.7 or 5.5 inches across, the resolution will be clearer, according to 9to5Mac.This will also mean software and app changes for engineers whose current apps may look wonky on the new display.
Apple is also launching its new iOS 8 which will have its iPad competing directly with Microsoft's Surface. This means that Apple is creating new split-screen multitasking so users can run two iPad apps at one time and ending the standard only full screen view. The split-screen which is also available on other tablets, such as Microsoft's Surface, is most useful for office and enterprise use. Essentially, if Apple wants to compete in the enterprise market it has to provide whatever innovations their competitors have -- and unfortunately in enterprise Apple doesn't corner the market in innovation.
