AT&T Begins Selling Facebook Dedicated Phone

It's not quite a Facebook phone but the first handset with a dedicated button for the social network went on sale on AT&T's website.

The HTC Status will cost $49.99 with a two-year contract and it will come with a button that sends you directly to Facebook.

The phone is not set to hits AT&T and Best Buy stores until July 17 but the cellular carrier has begun taking pre orders.

The dedicated Facebook button is located directly below the keyboard. Once clicked on, it allows users to instantly update statuses or check into a place.

Beyond being the first phone with a dedicated Facebook button it is also the first AT&T handset to run on the Android Gingerbread platform.

It comes complete with a 2.6-inch touchscreen and a 5-megapixel camera with LED-flash.
