Protests Held Across U.S. Amid New Year's Eve Parties

Protests of police killings of African-Americans took place in several major U.S. cities on New Year's Eve, NBC News reported. "When kids see people dying in in the middle of the square, maybe they'll ask their parents, 'Why is America like this?'" Martin Henson, who helped organize a Boston protest, told NBC station WHDH. Similar protests were being organized in New York and other major cities, including Atlanta, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In an annual poll of editors and news directors, The Associated Press said last week that the police killings were the top news story of 2014, ahead of the Ebola virus crisis and ISIS violence in the Middle East.
