Bowe Bergdahl Investigation Concludes, Charges Possible

The Army has conclude its lengthy investigation into the disappearance of Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl in Afghanistan and must now decide whether or not he should face criminal charges for reportedly walking away from his base into the hands of the Taliban in June 2009, NBC News reported. The Army could charge Bergdahl with desertion or the lesser charge of being "absent without leave" (AWOL). A conviction on either charge could lead to imprisonment, reduction in rank and loss of $300,000 in back pay and benefits which accrued during his time in captivity. Bergdahl was released by the Taliban in exchange for five Taliban commanders in May of this year.
