A Southern California man was arrested after surveillance video showed him apparently intentionally running over his Chihuahua in an alley, then leaving the dog to die, police said.
Michael David Parker, 45, of Hawthorne, was arrested Friday for the killing of the dog named Cow Cow late last month.
Police said they were investigating the discovery of a dog in a trash bag when they acquired surveillance video from an alley near El Segundo Boulevard and Doty Avenue in Hawthorne.
Surveillance video shows a man pulling up in a dark-colored car, opening his trunk, then re-entering the vehicle. Moments later, Cow Cow wanders out in front of the car and is struck by the driver, who had backed up the car before accelerating directly toward the 5-year-old Chihuahua.
The video above shows the moments before impact.

Parker posted bond, police said. He is set to be arraigned on March 25.
