Fifth Man Charged in Chicago Mass Shooting

A fifth man has been charged in connection with a shooting last week in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood that injured 13 people, including a three-year-old boy.

David Logan, 22, of the 3100 block of South Green Street, was arrested Wednesday and charged with unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card and obstructing justice, police said.

The mass shooting at Cornell Square Park near 51st and Wood occurred about 45 minutes before the park’s 11 p.m. curfew on Sept. 19.

The shooting allegedly was revenge for a minor graze wound one of the suspects suffered several hours earlier in the 5200 block of South Paulina after a quarrel with gang rivals, prosecutors said.

Police have said some of the victims in the park were members of the Gangster Disciples street gang and the shooters were suspected of being affiliated with the Black P Stones.

Four men were charged earlier this week.

The little boy wounded in the shooting, Deonta Howard, was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
