Crews Work to Rescue Person From Bluffs Above Black's Beach

Crews hoisted a man to safety who became stuck on the bluffs above Black's Beach in La Jolla Tuesday morning.

Newschopper 7 footage showed a rescue helicopter hovering near the bluffs searching for the stuck individual at about 5:45 a.m.

About a half-hour later, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFD) crews were making their way towards a man stuck in a small indent in the mountainside.

It was not clear how the individual became stuck on the bluff.

Shortly after, a firefighter had made contact with the man and was positioning straps so that he could be hoisted to safety.

The two made their way up the mountain, dodging falling dirt as medics waited above. At about 7 a.m., they reached the top.

SDFD spokesperson Monica Munoz said the man was not injured.
