DiCaprio's “Wolf of Wall Street” Finds a Home

A Scorsese-DiCaprio project that was first put together in 2007 has found new life in the form of a buyer at Cannes--but there's a catch.

Red Granite Pictures has bought the rights to "The Wolf of Wall Street," Jordan Belfort's memoir of his time as a coke-snorting, skirt-chasing, investor-defrauding dirt-bag, reported Variety, with Leonardo DiCaprio set to star in the title role.

Unfortunately, Martin Scorsese, who was committed as recently as this past February, isn't currently involved, with Red Granite declaring the director's chair empty. That doesn't mean Scorsese's out of the picture, just that he's not in the picture.

Here's this from the Publisher's Weekly synopsis of "The Wolf on Wall Street":

Belfort, who founded one of the first and largest chop shop brokerage firms in 1987, was banned from the securities business for life by 1994, and later went to jail for fraud and money-laundering, delivers a memoir that reads like fiction... The book's main topic is the vast amount of sex, drugs and risky physical behavior Belfort managed to survive.

Belfort hails from Queens and has the accent to back it up--watch the interview with him below.
