Ellen Opens Up About Sexual Assault During Interview With Savannah Guthrie

The usually jubilant DeGeneres took a serious turn when discussing her own past sexual assault

Ellen DeGeneres sat down Thursday with "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie on DeGeneres' daytime talk show to talk about a wide range of topics, but got incredibly candid as she opened up about being a victim of sexual abuse when she was 15 years old.

"As a victim of sexual abuse I am furious at people that don't believe it and who say how do you not remember exactly what day it was. You don't remember those things. What you remember is what happened to you and where you were and how you feel."

DeGeneres added, "We are really vulnerable at that age and we trust. And then when you are violated, you don't know what to do."
