Facebook Blames Users for Email Problems

Facebook said users haven't lost any email and that they are simply "confused" by their email folders. "What?" you ask. "How can that remotely be a real reason?"
Well, Facebook did say user confusion caused the email loss after it received complaints about the social network's switch in default users' email addresses. A Facebook spokeswoman said that most users were simply befuddled over how Facebook categorizes email.
“By default, messages from friends or friends of friends go into your Inbox. Everything else goes to your Other folder,” Facebook spokesperson Meredith Chin told The Next Web in an email. “That is likely where the messages are being sent from other people's emails. Even if that person is friends with them on Facebook, if the friend doesn't have that email on their Facebook account, the message could end up in the Other folder.”
Facebook got a lot of heat last week when it switched everyone's default email to an @facebook.com address to crank up use of its largely ignored email.  While many decried this move and worked to switch it back, several also were worried about the loss of information and emails.
We have talked previously about Facebook's lack of concern for privacy, so it shouldn't be a surprise that after a another misstep the social network doesn't blame itself -- but users for not being psychic and figuring out where their missing email might be. Again, great customer service, Facebook!
