Facebook will team up with online music services Spotify and Rdio so users can stream music.
Facebook will announce the music feature at its Sept. 22 developers conference in San Francisco, Bloomberg reported. The article said it had three different anonymous sources confirming the report. This isn't the first time Facebook has entered the media business. It began renting movies online earlier this year -- but streaming music seems to be a hot topic.
“Many of the most popular music services around the world are integrated with Facebook and we’re constantly talking to our partners about ways to improve these integrations,” said Jonathan Thaw, a spokesman for Facebook.
Facebook already has some dealings with Spotify and Rdio, recently letting the two companies publish user activity on the social network, according to the Wall Street Journal. Perhaps that was only the beginning of their beautiful friendship?
