Google, Warriors Please Crowd With Unprecedented Giveaway

All 19,596 fans Tuesday night at Oracle Arena were gifted Google Home Minis

Ever the crowd-pleasers, both Google and the Golden State Warriors rarely do anything quietly these days. So it wasn't much of a surprise when the two partnered to gift all 19,596 roaring fans at Oracle Arena Tuesday night with Google Home Minis.

Still, it was somewhat of a stunner.

The giveaway, the largest and most valuable of a Google product at a live sporting event in history, according to the Warriors, was supposed to be tied to a fan converting a half-court shot. But the lucky shooter, Bo Harkins of Walnut Creek, missed.

Google gave away the devices anyway and added the chance for future Warriors tickets to those who activated their Google Home Minis after the game.

The fans, by the way, left the arena doubly ecstatic after the Warriors beat the Trail Blazers 116-94 in Game 1 of their West Finals series.
