#ImWithKap: Celebrities, Athletes Show Solidarity With Colin Kaepernick Ahead of Super Bowl LIII

A number of celebrities, athletes and fans have paid tribute to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick this week, donning #IMWITHKAP jerseys and posting on social media as Black History Month got underway.

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, along with political activist Angela Davis and filmaker Ava DuVernay were just a handful of those celebrating their solidarity with Kaepernick, who has accused NFL owners of colluding against him due to his controversial actions.

Kaepernick's silent protests during the national anthem before 49ers games two years ago sparked a national debate over patriotism and the First Amendment.

Many believe his activism has prompted NFL owners to avoid signing him, though Commissioner Roger Goodell insisted this week a team would sign Kaepernick if it felt the quarterback could help it win.

#ImWithKap was trending this weekend ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl LIII between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.
