iPad Mini Debuts in September, Analyst Says

A 7-inch Apple computer tablet will be available in September and likely be half of the price of its bigger cousin, an analyst reported.

KGI Securities reported that Apple has been working on a secret 7-inch tablet which bodes well for a stellar fourth quarter for the Cupertino, Calif. company, according to eWeek. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he predicted 1.8 million 7-inch tablets would be sold in the third quarter, but expected 13 million to sell in the following quarter.

But this isn't the first rumor about the iPad mini. The iPad mini idea first started appearing last year, when more analysts suggested that Apple was working on a smaller iPad. It peaked in April, when it was reported the iPad mini would be available in September -- strangely the same time as KGI Securities used in its press release.

Coincidence? Perhaps, or it's Apple's Chinese supply chain that is eagerly tossing tidbits to analysts. Either way, it's making us eagerly await the September reveal.
