Justin Timberlake to Play Sean Parker in Real Life

First he brought sexy back. Now don't tell Prince but Justin Timberlake is trying to MySpace back.

The pop star/actor/comedian is using his role as Sean Parker in "The Social Network" as leverage to find real life tech success.

Timberlake was part of a deal with Specific Media to purchase MySpace from Rupert Murdoch's News Corp Wednesday. The deal will put Timberlake at the forefront of helping revive the once popular social network that spammers and Facebook killed.

The former N'Sync star will be working out MySpace's Beverly Hills office and he will be given a staff of about six people to help him transform the site back into a viable business entity.

While the particulars of Specific Media's plan to revive the website will not be revealed for another couple of months, Timberlake said in a statement "there's a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers, listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect."

The thought is that the new ownership group will push MySpace to expand its music and video content and try to create portals for artists to directly connect with fans, in a way that involves more than 140-characters.

Specific Media says it plans to focus on video programming, music and original shows as the backbone for building MySpace back up.

Whether Timberlake can translate his acting experience with the startup world into real life success, will be interesting to see.
