A 19-year-old Kansas man was arrested by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Florida after allegedly stabbing a man who answered a Craigslist ad for a tryst.
According to the police, Brandon Hinck, 19, posted a shirtless photo of himself on Craigslist seeking a sexual encounter. Dave Sero, 46, was vacationing in South Florida from Washington and answered the ad and the two agreed to meet at a gas station in Boca Raton.
The two had lunch and then went to a hotel in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, the BSO said. They went to the suspect’s room and agreed to have sex. At some point, while the victim was nude on the bed, Hinck started stabbing him.
Police say, the two men began fighting and the weapon was dropped in the room. The victim ran to an elevator where he collapsed and was found by hotel employees who called for help. The suspect ran into the lobby and told the front desk employee that he had just stabbed a man.
Sero was taken to Broward Health North suffering from multiple stab wounds. BSO said Hinck is believed to have arrived in South Florida a few weeks ago and stayed briefly in a halfway home and at a local rehab.
BSO said anyone else who had a violent encounter with Hinck should call their office or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
