Mich. Drug “Mule” Given 3-Year Sentence on 90th Birthday

A decorated World War II veteran was sentenced to three years in federal prison on Wednesday — his 90th birthday — for his alleged role as a Mexican cartel's drug mule, NBC News reported. Prosecutors said Leo Sharp had been transporting drugs as early as 2009 for the infamous Sinaloa cartel. The defense had asked for a more lenient sentence, noting that Sharp has dementia and other health conditions that would be hard to address while serving his sentence.
