Monkey Selfie on Wikipedia Drives Photographer Bananas

If a monkey takes a selfie, who owns the copyright? That's the debate happening between Wikipedia and a nature photographer after a vain-crested black macaque grabbed his camera to snap a few self-portraits. The fabulous selfies have ended up on Wikimedia Commons, a collection of images with no copyright that are free for the public to use — but photographer David Slater says because he funded the trip and had his own preferred settings on his own camera, he owns the rights to the photo. Wikimedia disagrees and refuses to take the image down, saying it's in the public domain since monkeys can't hold copyrights, and now Slater plans to take it to court.
