Ana Downgraded to Tropical Storm After Missing Hawaii

Hurricane Ana was downgraded to a tropical storm on Sunday after sparing Hawaii, but bringing heavy rain that flooded some roads on the Big Island Saturday. A tropical storm watch was canceled for Oahu, the most populous island, but a flash-flood warning remained in place. The hurricane was expected to pass south of Honolulu and Kauai Saturday and Sunday morning, and the National Weather service warned that high winds could produce damaging surf.
