Scalia's Gay Marriage Advice: “Ask the Nearest Hippie”

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Scalia's scorching dissenting opinion blasting the court's ruling in favor of marriage equality is gaining traction on social media thanks to this line: "Ask the Nearest Hippie." The conservative was skewering the argument that marriage brings with it freedoms such as expression, intimacy and spirituality. "Who ever thought that intimacy and spirituality [whatever that means] were freedoms?" he wrote. "And if intimacy is, one would think that Freedom of Intimacy is abridged rather than expanded by marriage. Ask the nearest hippie." Commenters on social media suggested the line becomes a T-Shirt slogan while others said it shows how "out of touch with the times" Scalia is.
