NBC Suspends Brian Williams 6 Months Without Pay

NBC News has suspended Brian Williams as "Nightly News" anchor and managing editor for six months without pay, effective immediately, following a review of his comments about an incident in Iraq. NBC News' president Deborah Turness announced the decision to staffers Tuesday in an email and said Lester Holt will continue to substitute anchor in Williams' stead. Williams had come under scrutiny for his retellings of an incident in Iraq in which he said his helicopter had been hit by RPG fire, which wasn't accurate.
