DC Comics Responds After Girl, 11, Calls for More Female Superheroes

Rowan Hansen, 11, of Champaign, Illinois, wrote a letter to DC Comics complaining about the lack of female superheroes and the impracticality of Wonder Woman's costume. She wrote: "Girls read comics, too, and they care." DC Comics responded to the fifth grader on Twitter that the company agreed and was "working hard to create more superhero fun for girls!" They also announced that a Wonder Woman movie and Supergirl TV show were in the works. On behalf of DC Comics, Rowan was presented on NBC's "Today" show with a sketch of herself as a superhero, cape and all.
