Newsom Addresses California's Zero-Emission Vehicle Goals

NBC Universal, Inc.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom promoted clean energy to help fight climate change during his visit to Palo Alto Wednesday.

Newsom's new budget plan directs $10 billion to accelerate the transition to zero-emission vehicles. That funding will support more affordable clean cars, trucks, buses and charging stations.

"As a consequence, we can breathe cleaner air, kids will grow up healthier, and our economy will be much, much more resilient," Newsom said.

The plan isn't just for affluent Californians.

The state's Clean Cars for All program provides rebates for low-income Californians, and Newsom hopes to expand that program in the upcoming budget.
