No More Snow Days? Internet Lessons Keep Schools in Session

Online teaching lessons may leave snow days in the cold. The idea of teaching kids from home instead of cancelling school altogether is gaining momentum thanks to the implementation of virtual teaching lessons at the Cathedral School in snow-prone St. Cloud, Minnesota. “It’s one of those ideas that I think was simply inevitable,” Cathedral School President Michael A. Mullin said. Google software allows teachers at the school to conduct real-time discussions with students or upload taped lesson plans for them to view later on. Although schools seem to like the idea, that doesn't mean students will warm up to it. “I'll be honest. There has been some grumbling," Cathedral Principal Lynn Grewing said.
