Obama to Ask for Billions to Deal With Border Crisis

President Obama will ask Congress for $2 billion this week to deal with a surge of people, including unaccompanied minors, at the U.S. border. The president will also request that the Homeland Security Department be granted authority to more quickly deport immigrant children traveling without their parents, and for harsher penalties for those who smuggle children across the border. The U.S. Border Patrol has apprehended more than 52,000 unaccompanied children, many from Central America, since October.
