Pensacola Parking Officials Skip Tickets, Spread Holiday Cheer

Pensacola parking officers are spreading holiday cheer this month passing out free tokens instead of tickets.

Officers left holidays cards with tokens for the downtown parking garage on the windshields of drivers who had committed minor infractions on Friday.

The Downtown Pensacola Parking Management District will not enforce minor parking infractions from Dec. 22 to 25 and will not levy fines. The grace does not include drivers who park illegally in a fire lane or in handicapped spots.

The parking district issues about 15 to 20 tickets a day. Tickets range from $10 to $40. But on Friday, the Pensacola New Journal reports officers issued 80 tokens and cards.

Parking officials said they also want to encourage drivers to visit downtown during the holidays.
