Police Identify At-Large Suspect in Killing of City Heights Woman

Police are hoping the public can help lead them to the suspect.

San Diego police have identified a suspect in the killing of a City Heights woman found by her dad the day before Father's Day.

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) is asking for the public's help in finding 26-year-old Dominique Grady who officers consider armed and dangerous.

Police say Grady is a suspect in the murder of Jossie Marilyn Ruiz, 21, who was found dead by her father inside their apartment near 45th and Dwight streets, south of University Avenue after 5 p.m. last Saturday.

Ruiz was killed by a single gunshot, SDPD said.

Grady is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall weighing 140 pounds. Anyone with information regarding his location can call SDPD at (619) 531-2000 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (888) 850-8477 or online.

Ruiz had gone out with friends Friday night and returned home around 5:45 a.m. Saturday, according to SDPD Lt. Matt Dobbs.

After her father, Pedro Ruiz, scolded her for coming home after dawn, she immediately went to bed.

Everyone in the house went to work leaving Lopez alone in the apartment.

Pedro said he came home mid-afternoon and didn't notice anything suspicious. He said her door was closed and he assumed she was asleep inside.

He said he took a nap then made something to eat and jumped into the shower.

When he got out of the shower, he said his daughter's door was ajar.

He didn't notice anything wrong until he could not find his car keys.

That's when he went into her room and made a discovery that he said will shock him for the rest of his life.

An online fundraising page has been created to help ruiz' relatives with funeral expenses.
