At Least 4 Killed, Several Injured in Tel Aviv Market Attack

Police say two gunmen were "neutralized"

Four people were reported killed and several others injured Wednesday night in a gun attack in an Israeli shopping mall, NBC News reports.

The attack took place at Saron Market, a popular market in central Tel Aviv located near national military headquarters.

Two "terrorists opened fire at civilians," police said. One of the detained attackers was being treated for a gunshot wound. The gunmen were Palestinians from the village of Yata near Hebron, according to police.

A spokesman for Israel's emergency rescue service told MSNBC that several of the victims were seriously wounded. Because people scattered from the gunfire, victims were found in five different areas of the mall.

The U.S. State Department condemned the attack.

The incident raised concerns of renewed street attacks by Palestinians against Israelis. A series of stabbbings took began last October and lasted several months.
