Snapchat to Debut Web Series

Snapchat's first Web series will feature two daughters of famous Hollywood producers.

The new series, "Literally Can't Even," is written by both Sasha Spielberg and Emily Goldwyn, the respective daughters of Steven Spielberg and John Goldwyn. Both place "comedic versions of themselves" throughout their lives in Los Angeles, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The series will premiere on Saturday on Snapchat's new Snap Channel on Discover.

Snapchat media production director Rylee Ebsen says that by Snapchat creating its own content, it's also creating its own voice. "Snapchatters consume and create and we've always embraced that," Ebsen told the Reporter. "When it came to Discover, we wanted to have a seat at the table. It felt weird to not have our own voice as well."

Taking a page from Snapchat, the five-minute episodes of "Literally Can't Even" will only last 24 hours before disappearing into the ether. Both Goldwyn and Spielberg say that's OK with them. "These are snapshots of our life, which is perfect for Snapchat," Goldwyn told the Reporter. "It feels perfect for the generation that we're writing for."

At five minutes long, it hardly seems worth watching, but we always support innovative and ambitious ways to  distribute creative content.
