The Japanese Friendship Garden's annual Cherry Blossom Week has been canceled amid concerns of the novel coronavirus and as a result of Gov. Gavin Newsom's suggestion to postpone events of 250 people or more.

JFG's made the announcement on its website and said the decision was made as a preventative measure to minimize the spread of the illness. The event was scheduled to take place from March 16 to March 22 and boasted street food, vendors and entertainment.

Those who still want to see the brilliant plumes of pink are in luck as they will still be able to attend the garden through regular admission.

Pre-sale tickets were available for the event and those who purchased can request a refund or use it toward an annual membership at the garden that will last through the end of March.

General admission to enter the garden is $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and active/retired military. Children under the age of 6 can enter for free.
