Survey Says: iPad Users Do It in the Bedroom

Do iPad users really read more than because they own a tablet? Maybe.

A study that may be one of the first of its kind reveals just where iPad-owners are using their magic Apple tablets, just how they are being used and when.

The study was conducted by the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri, who surveyed 561 iPad users.

The survey found that most Apple tablet owners prefer to use the iPad in the bedroom. Only about 6 percent said they use the iPad in their office or 7 percent at work, only six percent used it in the kitchen.

Unfortunately the survey did not ask how many users surf their tabs while sitting on a toilet. That may have exceeded the 17 percent of respondents who said they use it in the bedroom.

The survey also found that more than half of iPad users like to use their tablets to read the news using apps, while 41 percent read newspapers and another 39 percent read books.

The most frequent time for iPad usage was either in the early mornings or during prime time. About half of the iPad's magazine readers thumb through the digital versions between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. or between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.
