Teacher Tackled Teen Gunman, Then Consoled Him

The teacher who tackled an armed student at a Washington state high school on Monday said Tuesday that he consoled the 16-year-old as he waited for police to arrive, NBC News reported. "I had a conversation with him as I was laying on top of him and tried to reassure him he's going to get some help," North Thurston High School teacher Brady Olson told reporters. Olson, a father of two and a teacher of government at the high school, likely prevented the situation from turning deadly by tackling the student, authorities told NBC affiliate KING.
