Two Spanish journalists held hostage in Syria have been released after more than six months in captivity, NBC News reported. The two men were held captive by an al Qaed-linked militant group for 194 days. They were handed over to the Turkish military in good health, according to El Mundo, a Spanish newspaper. The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a rebel group, captured them on Sept. 16 at a checkpoint near the Syrian border with Turkey. They had been traveling with the rebel Free Syrian Army and were attempting to leave Syria after two weeks of reporting on the civil war there.
